With one simple question, Ms. Kim's Pre-K class began their investigation into all types of architecture. The week started with the children describing all they knew about buildings, construction, and architecture. They discussed what building plans are and what a “structure” is. Ms. Kim then introduced various materials and students were challenged to make a plan before they created their structures. The children spent a lot of time brainstorming ideas of how and what type of structures they were going to make. They used a variety of new tools such as a hole-punch, Styrofoam, straws, measuring tape, and a variety of boxes! The students were very engaged in their personal projects but also collaborated to improve each other's structures. The level of team work, patience, and determination was very alive during the project! Way to work hard Pre-K kids!
