Yesterday the preschool classroom went on a treasure hunt! Ms. Emily made a map to help them find it and dressed like a pirate as well. The kids followed each clue and using teamwork, found the key that they needed to open the chest. They finally found the treasure chest outside in front under our TLC sign! What a fun way to learn to work together to figure things out!

Our annual preschool lemonade stand was a success! The children had a wonderful time cutting and squeezing the lemons, mixing it up and making some very delicious lemonade. They each took turns manning the stand and serving the parents and teachers as they showed up.
Our kids love water day! Every week we are able to get the kids outside to have some fun in the sun and explore the water. They love to drive their cars through the car wash, and splash in the pools! When there are puddles they never miss an opportunity to jump around in them as well.
In preparation for the 4th of July this weekend, the toddlers used cut up toilet paper rolls to make fireworks! They enjoyed stamping them to make them look like the fireworks and then realized they could slide them around to mix the colors and get purple!
Loving our ice cream truck Fridays, the children enjoy picking out their own sweet treat to eat! What a great way to start summer.
Sometimes at TLC more than one classroom will get really into a certain topic, these past couple months, our preschool kids and our toddlers were loving firetrucks! Both groups have been singing songs, reading books about and pretending to be firefighters. So much so that our teachers arranged for the preschoolers to go and visit firefighter Kevin to investigate and explore a firetruck. Later in the week, on their walk the toddlers saw the firefighters out and were also about to check out an EMS truck, how cool!
Toddlers had a very fun color sorting activity the other day! Miss Alyssa cut out red and blue pieces of paper and the children took turns figuring out which side of the contact paper they belonged on. Not only were they learning to recognize their colors, they also practiced their fine motor skills!
In toddler 2 this week the children, who have been very interested in cars, decided to 'roll' with it and do some fun activities. They first started with some car painting, where they roll them down a paint covered ramp and onto paper. This was a very fun way to not only play with the them, but to learn about mixing colors and also have a fun sensory experience. In their other activity this week, the children got to pick out cars and either push them down the ramp or watch them roll down on their own. The sun was also in a perfect position in the window for them to watch the shadows from their cars and hands!
Yesterday preschool released their butterflies outside during the small break in the weather we had! The kids had a wonderful time watching them fly around, chasing them and watching them figure it out.
