WE ARE THE WORLD is the theme for this year’s Summer Program at TLC for children ages 4 to 8. The children will travel to Australia, Spain, England, Mexico, Canada, and France to learn about and experience each country’s culture, including the language, music, art, food, and games, and historical landmarks. The global jetsetters will prepare their trip itinerary, maps of each country, and investigate the weather and essential travel requirements for their international journey.
Activities will take place outdoors as much as weather allows. Children will also take local field trips that relate to the country being featured.
Children will love the thrill of seeing the flora and fauna of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia; climbing the Eiffel Tower in Paris; dancing the Flamenco in Spain; exploring the Aztec pyramids in Mexico; and seeing the world from the top of the Canadian Rockies.
The children will be taught basic French and Spanish, and they’ll compare the differences in the English language as spoken in England, Australia and the U.S. The children will help to prepare favorite foods from each country. They will also prepare scrapbooks to record their not to be forgotten experiences.
